Alexa Rank Means Nothing Period.

Alexa.com should put a disclaimer on its website warning people that their data is “For Amusement / Entertainment Use Only” .

Good point. Automotive Vendors use all kinds of obfuscation hoping to gain sales advantage. Most dealers have no idea what Alexa is, but it sounds official.

You readers might want to know that Alexa Rank is a global traffic rank while dealer websites do not compete globally. Alexa Rank is not relevant for car dealer websites. Even the worst dealer website in Los Angeles will easily out-Alexa the car best dealer website in Peoria.

Also, using Google Page Rank to discuss Alexa Traffic Rank is not relevant either. Google probably does not depend on Alexa for reference (maybe somewhere in Google's algorithm there is a connection) to determine Google page rank and produce your SERP example.

You're onto the basic problem though, automotive vendors with online products create confusion rather than provide dealers with clarity and that causes problems for any SEO professional. Some can be excused (online automotive vendors) because they don't know that they don't know. And marketing has never been about illumination.

* Great Comment Troy
